June 25: Experiment has ended Ok! It's been about two months since this started, and I've turned off the altered comment text. This should be enough to give us a reasonable idea of what effect was had by this change. With less to watch on TV, I've had time to fix a few serious errors in my initial query and also adjusted the method for associating edits ...

A quick update on this request: Yes, the Community Team has submitted a request to have this feature change implemented using Interpersonal SE to test it. Acceptance by the dev team is still pending, but with the pent up demand and backlog of feature-requests, it is still unclear how this will be prioritized. If it is accepted, the date of completion is ...

Update: As of... just now (20 May 2019), the site setting for minimum question age should be active and we've added IPS back to the HNQ list with one question at a time. Please keep me updated on how things are going. Thank you so much for hanging in there with us. It's been a hard six months and I'm really excited to see how this changes the traffic here ...

This site is now public. Enjoy! Original answer: Barring any technical delays, the site should go public tomorrow afternoon (Tue, 18-Jul). The nomination thread was posted last week, so the selection process typically begins about a week after the site launches; however, I will be out of town next week and I am slated to make the initial contacts, so we ...

This tag actually makes me really uncomfortable. I'd prefer it just didn't exist at all. The very fact that it's only currently used on three questions would make it easy to kill and, to add to that, if it was applied to every question that was actually about females, it'd essentially become a meta tag. I also find it somewhat amusing that there isn't a men ...

1. Raise the autoflag threshold to 15. We have issues on Worldbuilding with questions that get lots of answers. The HNQ effect means that many get 10 or more, and our record is at least 30 or 40, I think. However, we (the Worldbuilding mods) did there what we (the IPS mods) do here, and let the answer autoflags sit for a while. So we got the threshold raised,...

I think it could be helpful for categorization, yes. This is information that will almost certainly be included in the question if it is relevant, but tags do make it easy to search for types of questions; members of the LGBTQ community would likely find such a tag useful. Suggestions for usage: Do use this tag When a question is about issues of sexual ...

The term “self-improvement” broadly refers to the act of improving yourself, but it can also be applied to a number of different topics. Self-improvement can include personal development in terms of leadership skills, goal setting, visualization skills, organizational skills, time management, and mind power. That's what google says self-improvement is. ...

The number of comments on a post is denormalized, stored as a simple integer attached to the post itself. This is updated when comments are added or deleted, but the update isn't atomic - that is, the count can become inaccurate if two of those actions happen at very nearly the same time: deletion #1: retrieve comment count (2 comments) deletion #2: ...

Yes Yes Yes. This is a great idea. I know your pain, I have 232 comment flags, 28 alone today and yesterday are waiting for review and 188 helpful in 27 days! This is madness. I feel it's even more important on this website because everyone has some form of interpersonal skills at all different levels and have opinions on other people's interpersonal skills ...

As you say, almost everything in interpersonal skills is a form of communication. This is a meta tag. If you're asking a question about a specific form of communication, that tag is preferable (e.g. emails, texting). If this post gets support, the mods can request the CMs blacklist the tag to prevent it being recreated. This is better done before the tag ...

This is now live with the close reason as suggested (last box on the answer) Let's take some inspiration by the options users have posted before: I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because unfortunately, this question appears to be asking “What should I do?”, which the community has determined to not be a good fit for Interpersonal Skills Stack ...

I am not the greatest at graphic design, but here's an icon concept: I hereby release this into the public domain. If someone can improve it, please do; here's the SVG: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8205354/Interpersonal%20StackExchange%20Icon.svg

If Robert wants to test it here, I'm willing to be a guinea pig but I'm not going to hold my breath that it will work. Area 51 does not reflect an actual site, the types of users, and the types of comments. Until it's actually tested on a regular site, I don't have any reason to think it will actually do anything. Changing the wording on A51 and having it ...

I propose the following close reason: Questions seeking advice on what to do instead of how to do it are off-topic. It's just not what this Stack is about. Additionally, they're a bad fit for a Q&A site because it's difficult to determine the correct answer, and strangers on the Internet may not be the best source of advice anyway. For more ...

Something that oddly wasn't mentioned yet... We have gender that should work in all cases where gender is a significant factor...

4

Yes. Let's make internet a synonym of online-interaction and not just remove it, since it's bound to be recreated otherwise. If you have earned the required privilege (at least a net score of 5 on the tag), you can vote for it.

I'm new to this area of stack overflow, so I can't comment as to whether a tag of this sort would be overused. That being said, I can think of many specific questions that can be asked that would be specific ( "how do i tell them I'm gay / a different gender" ) where this would apply and potentially useful. And many more questions that relate to different ...

A fix for this has just been rolled out.

3

Done. I haven't seen on-topic or allowed-questions show up here (yet), but if they do, they should be merged, too.

3

I think it's a meta tag and propose we burn it. I don't think it serves a decent distinction purpose either, and the topic of "women" is so hilariously broad that it doesn't even categorize properly.

3

On top of what Catija said, the tag is essentially a meta tag, as it can't be used on its own. That's why we should kill it with fire altogether, instead of changing it to some more age-neutral tag.

2

Well it is done. I think that was a good change. posting just so it is "answered"

It shows status-completed on MSE and MSO, so hopefully, it will be reflected here soon.
